Learn how to create a simple colorful text effect in Photoshop
In this Photoshop tutorial you will learn how to create a simple colorful clean text and add lights. One of the best things about Photoshop is that you can create nice looking text easily and fast. I will show you how clean text and simple techniques can help you create cool looking text.

Step 1 > Create the Document
Create a new Photoshop document and set width to 800, height to 450 with trasparent background and press OK.
Step 2 – Create the Background
As foreground color use #f3f3f3 and press OK. With paint bucket tool (G) fill the layer and rename it to “Background”.
Step 3 – Write the Text
With type tool (T) and “Arial Rounded MT Bold” font write “colors” with text size 170pt and any grey color you want.
Step 4 – Add Color
Double click the text layer and select the letter “c” first. As foreground color use #e51d6d and press OK. Repeat the step for all letters using #e5bd1d for “o”, #80e51d for “l”, #1dd5e5 for the second “o”, #3049e5 for “r” and #cc44f3 for “s”
Step 5 – Highlight Shape
Create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N) and name it Highlight. With Pen Tool (P) draw a similar s shape. Close your shape by connecting the first point with the last. With Path Selection Tool (A) select your shape, right click on it and press “Make Selection”.
Step 6 – Fill the Highlight
Add color to your selection by using the gradient tool (G) with 50% white and 50% trasparent and press OK. Add a gradient from bottom to the top like the second image. Finally go to Select > Deselect or press (Ctrl+D).
Step 7 – Refine the Highlight
Select the text layer and press right click > select pixels or (Ctrl + click) on the text layer. After you have selected the text pixels go to Select > Inverse or press (Shift + Ctrl + I) and hit Delete on your keyboard. Finally set the layer mode to Soft Light.
Step 8 – Add Another Highlight
Select the Highlight layer and go to Layer > Duplicate Layer. Rename the new layer to “Highlight 2”.
Step 9 – Add Extra Text
With Type Tool (T) write another smaller 30pt text and #363636 color. Finally place it under the main text.
Step 10 – Group Layers
Select all layers except Background and go to Layer > New > Group or press (Ctrl + G). Name your Group “Text”. With your group selected go to Select > All or press (Ctrl + A). Use Move Tool in your tools palette or press (M) then in the top palette press Align horizontal centers as shown below.
Step 11 – Add Vignette to Background
Select the Background layer and go to Filter > Lens Correction. In the new tab go to Custom then change the vignette ammount to -10 and midpoint to +20 and press OK.
