The Psychological Impact of LED Lights

As humans, our psychological functioning is often influenced by color. Whether or not we feel this process happening, there’s no denying the fact that it happens. Certain colors bring forth certain kinds of reactions from people. It is important to understand these influences when creating living spaces.

When done professionally, lighting brings a design project to life. It not only creates height and depth but brings a different kind of energy to a design. One can use lighting to make a room feel more comfortable. Likewise, your modern home could have a more dramatic appearance solely from lighting. Here’s a glimpse of how the human brain interprets LED lights.

LED Lights and Psychology

Residential lighting was revolutionized with the invention of LED lights. Our LED lights replaced old incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and save a lot of energy. However, LED colors are not the easiest things to understand. The colors of LED lights are broadly categorized into two; RGB (red, green, blue) lights and white lights.

Since color has a tremendous subconscious impact on how we act, feel, and function, we recommend designing spaces with colors that offer a wide range of positive possibilities.
It’s worth noting that color perception differs according to one’s culture, so it’s best to use LED light bulbs with multiple colors as this offers you a range of possibilities. With the general LED color guide below, it’s easy to find a color that suits your home’s design.

RGB LED Light Color

RGB LED lights are modules that can generate millions of other colors, using three principal colors: red, green, and blue. They are not used as often as conventional white LED light colors and they can produce over 16 million color variations from red, blue, and greed. Each of these colors can elicit certain moods from individuals as follows:

Purple LED Light Color: The purple LED light comes from a combination of red and blue. It provokes such feelings of opulence, style, accomplishment, aspiration, royalty, intelligence, imagination, and creativity. Purple is said to reduce mental and emotional stress, helping you rest and fall asleep easier.

Yellow LED Light Color: Yellow LED lights attempt to elicit feelings of joy, warmness, sociability, motivation, carefulness, originality, and vigor. This color promotes relaxation and comfort and could help eliminate feelings of depression. However, too much of the color yellow can have the opposite effect.

Red LED Light Color: Red LED light colors are used in modern homes to evoke feelings of devotion, power, vigor, zeal, invigoration, and enthusiasm. On the downside, red LED light colors also evoke feelings of fury and threat. Additionally switching to red LED lights gets your energy levels up and also increases sexual desire and fertility.

Orange LED Light Color: Orange LED lights are used in modern homes to elicit feelings of accomplishment, self-assurance, liveliness, novelty, wellbeing, and positivity. It’s also a soothing color for newborn babies and is suited for nurseries.

Green LED Light Color: Green LED light colors provoke feelings of peacefulness, increase, wealth, security, therapy, newness, value, and nature. This color promotes healing, which is the reason you find it in recovery rooms and hospitals.

Blue LED Light Color: Blue LED light colors are used to evoke faith, stability, smartness, synchronization, serenity, devotion, honesty, and loyalty. The color blue also helps fights headaches, jet lags and maintains the body’s circadian rhythm.
